Morning Juice Recipe

I noticed a trend in my morning juices. I use the same basic recipe with little tweaks depending on my tiredness, seasonal fruits, or my mood. I started feeling redundant posting such similar ideas.

So that got me to thinking about posting more about ideas around choosing healthy days. I am puzzling the way to share recipes, because some of them are super-tasty, but also a way to make them relevant for readers who deliver posts to their inbox or follow along here.

I am on a quest to make my journey fun and healthy. I have a chronic illness that is coded into my genes. I can't feel "better". But I can have better days. So I will share tips and tricks along the way that make days easier. And safer. Last week I had a tumble that reminded me why health is not a luxury priority. Health is a necessity.

With that in mind, my morning juice has become a routine. I use a balance of greens and fruits.

Healthy morning juice recipe

My favorite blend:
  • a carrot
  • an apple
  • a pear
  • half a cucumber
  • lots of baby spinach and salad greens
  • a kale leaf (or two)
  • sprinkle of mint leaves
It's become an important morning routine. Cheers to being healthy!

Morning Juice Recipe #5

A puzzle: I am shooting a wedding tomorrow and seasonal allergies have been catching me off guard constantly. One wind gust kicks up pollens and dusts. The wedding is in a grassy field. Which will be lovely! Yet part of me is concerned that I will be sniffly and allergized. So I have an idea for a compact way to bring essential oil allergy defense with me. I will let you know how it works out :)

I am not a fan of traditional allergy medicine because I seem to have more side effects than actual allergy relief. One name brand makes me raging angry (no idea why but my friend shared the same effect on her moods). Like kick the walls, snarling-tiger angry. The allergies are easier to manage than the "relief". A natural solution sounds awesome.

in the diffuser: Lavender and Peppermint (instant allergy relief for me)

Anyway, time for juicing!

Morning Juice #5

I'm trying Kale. I've heard it can have a strong flavor so I'm going easy on it. But the rich nutrients are worth a little experimenting :). Articles like this and conversations with friends have convinced me...

Today's Recipe:

  • handful of raspberries
  • handful of strawberries
  • sprinkle of mint
  • two carrots
  • half a cucumber (saving slices for my cucumber/lemon water)
  • two carrots
  • apple
  • pear
  • Quite a few handfuls of Kale (about 2 cups?)
  • Handfuls of half/half spinach and salad greens
And it's actually pretty tasty! Not so sweet, and I taste the greens. But not in a bad way. I'll keep adding Kale to the mixes.

And now I'm super-curious about Kale chips. How are those made? hmmm....

For my water, I sliced lemon while I cut the fruit and veggies. I added lemon and cucumber with ice to my water glass for later. Healthy hydration, hurrah!

Morning Juice Recipe #4

Today's juice is inspired by fruits and veggies that are happy for days.

Feel fatigued today. Edited a ton of photos yesterday. I feel like a well run dry.

And I need to go to the grocery store today. Running low on fresh goodies. I always try to stock up on the quick use fruits and veggies alongside those that keep for a little while.

Today's recipe:

  • Handful of heirloom baby tomatoes
  • Sprinkle of mint
  • Almost a whole cucumber (saved a couple of slices for infused water)
  • Two small carrots
  • One apple
  • One pear
  • Lots of half/half spinach and baby greens

It's good! Mint is so refreshing :)

Morning Juice #3

So enjoying the mint lately! And I am going to infuse water for later. Cucumber mint? Yes please!

Anyway, that's another post.

Today I am spent from overdoing it yesterday. So I need energy big time :).

This morning's juice:
  • handful of raspberries
  • sprinkle of mint leaves
  • handful of strawberries
  • handful of blueberries
  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 2 smaller carrots
  • 1 celery stalk
  • lots of half/half spinach and spring mix greens
  • handful of mâche blend (salad greens)

For some reason (probably who I am), the celery is a strong flavor. The rest is a nice balance. Still yummy, just not sure if the celery will get to stay next time :)

Essential Oils for Allergies, Blend #1

I am on a quest for many healthy days. Because I have a tricky story with health challenges from a nerve disorder to allergies and asthma, I have to get creative about my healthy living plan. Last year I was introduced to essential oils. They won't cure me. But they do help! If anything, they brighten my mood while improving the air in our home.

I am a big fan of the diffuser, a lightweight fountain/fan system that release cool vapor scented with the essential oils that I add to the water. It's simple and calming.

Yesterday the wind kicked up my seasonal fall allergies. I added a little lavender and peppermint to my diffuser. Did the same this morning.

Young Living Lavender

I won't say they cure allergies (I haven't found a cure since most medicines give me strong side effects). But they sure relieve the sinus pressure and sneezing. And they make my home smell wonderful :)

Essential oils are a way to reap the benefits of natural sources that have been used to improve life for generations. I joined with Young Living because of their high quality oils and products. If you want to join, you get a lovely starter kit with your own diffuser. Click here for more information. The member number is my number, which allows us to connect and learn from one another.

Enjoy!

Morning Juice #2

This morning I have fresh berries, hurrah! I try to balance the sugars with the greens. Too much sugar is a spike and crash for my energy. So finding a nice combination is important!

Today's recipe:
  • handful of raspberries
  • handful of blueberries
  • handful of strawberries (and greens that I took off strawberries for the kids' lunches)
  • half a cucumber
  • 1 apple
  • 3 small carrots
  • Lots of half/half spinach and greens
  • Trying today- handful of mache blend: mache rosettes and sweet greens (we shall see)
  • Three mint leaves
Yep, it's good. Not too sweet. Definitely a winner :) Enjoy!
